Trenchless Construction
DCL has established itself as the prime contractor for the communication ISP and OSP market. This achievement was possible due to the superior knowledge, management, and Quality awareness of DCL staff. DCL has been completed.
DCL signed its first major contract with Saudi Aramco at the end of 2003. The project was under Saudi Aramco BI 3988. The project scope was to install Saudi Aramco backbone 48 core Fiber cable from Rastanura to Uthmaniya with connections to Qurayah from Abqaiq. The total length of the cable laid was 340 Km. DCL performed trenching, rock breaking, cable pulling, and backfilling along the complete route as per Saudi Aramco Standards. Fiber Cable splicing and testing were performed for the installed cable. OTDR, Power meter/Light source, PMD, and CD tests were performed by DCL technicians and engineers for this project. The project was completed in March 2005.
The Company began construction work in 2002. Since then it has made substantial advances in the contracting market and has successfully completed several projects and Infrastructure facilities for the Oil, Gas and Utilities Organizations in Saudi Arabia, especially for Saudi Aramco.
Over the past 19 years of its construction experience, the Company has built a reputation as one of the leading Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Contractors in the Middle East. During this period, the Company has gained experience and expertise allowing it to accept any challenging project, no matter how sophisticated or critical. It is this kind of positive performance that has resulted in the expansion of the Company’s activities in Saudi Arabia. During 2006-2007, DCL completed 3 sand dune crossings of 20 inch oil pipelines in Shayba under SAUDI ARAMCO Contract no. 3000129970 (two crossings approx 1500 meters long each and the third crossing is approx 2000 meters long). (See attachment # II - Appreciation Letter from Saudi Aramco in Section 08 - Major Accredits)
- During January of 2009 DCL completed two major crossings, between Abu Ali island and Berri Causeway. The first crossing of 24 inch crude pipeline was completed in August 2008 and installation of 30 inch water injection pipeline was completed in January 2009. Each crossing is 3,050 meters long, these crossings are the largest in the world to-date, in terms of length and productpipe diameters. The Main Contractor was Al-Robaya Est. for Contracting. (See attachment # I - Appreciation Letter from Saudi Aramco in Section 08 - Major Accredits)
- DCL signed a three year unit rate contract with Saudi Electricity Co, Eastern Operation Area, for HDD services in October 2007. The contract includes various type of road and utility crossings of 200m HDPE pipes. The pipes per crossings range from 2 to 10 each pipes. DCL has completed about 20 crossings under this contract to-date.
- During the year 2009, DCL successfully targeted the larger diameter pipeline crossings for oil & gas, water and sewage networks. The experience gained from Abu Ali and Shaybah project was instrumental in the success of the larger diameter crossing construction. DCL signed a service agreement with AlSayegh Co., a major water and sewage pipeline contractor in the central region, to construct crossings for various pipelines starting from 36” up to 56” diameter.
- DCL has successfully completed two crossings of 48 inch steel pipe in Hail region recently using the conventional HDD method. This was accomplished by using two trenchless technologies (HDD with Ramming Assist).
- DCL owns a fleet of four HDD rigs mainly working in Saudi Arabia. DCL also has a full compliment of professional crews to operate the four machines simultaneously. The crews are multi-national (from Europe, USA, Middle East and Asia).
